Sir John Everett Millais's - Ophelia (Tate Gallery - London) partly influenced this design. 

Millais's work was not widely regarded when first exhibited at the Royal Academy, London but has since come to be admired for its beauty and its accurate depiction of a natural landscape. 

Ophelia was in turn based on Shakespeare's Hamlet.
